Phil’s first published work of fiction is called Fifteen Shots. It is a novella, and it is available for the Amazon Kindle and the B&N Nook. To buy it, click here for Kindle or here for Nook. Phil published it himself as an e-book. If you’re wondering why he did that, click here.
The book description reads:
The mother. The dealer. The detective. In Fifteen Shots, the reader drops into the minds of these and twelve other characters during the course of one fateful day. Two teenage girls duck out of school to make a quick purchase from their favorite drug dealer, but the transaction doesn’t go as planned.
The 15 featured characters are all connected to the shocking outburst at the heart of the story. Fifteen Shots is about the reactions and reflections people make during a time of crisis, the jobs that must be done regardless of urgent circumstances, and the thin line between tragedy and survival.
A short, fast-moving novella, Fifteen Shots is the first published work of fiction from journalist Phil Dzikiy. Visit phildzikiy.com for more information.

For even more information about the book, here is one of those fake FAQs in which the interviewer and interviewee are one in the same.
Q: So, Fifteen Shots is about a drug deal gone bad?
A: Sort of. The drug deal is at the heart of the story, but that event isn’t exactly the most important thing in the mind of every character.
Q: You say the reader drops into the minds of these 15 characters in the description.
A: That’s not a question, but yes, it’s first-person narration, from 15 separate points of view, in proper chronological order.
Q: That sounds complicated.
A: It’s not, really. It’s pretty easy to follow along. And it’s a quick read.
Q: You’ve listed Fifteen Shots as literary fiction, but I notice you’ve also included crime fiction as a genre. Why?
A: Why not? It’s a literary novella, to be sure. It’s not a genre work. But a crime is at the heart of the matter, and fans of crime fiction might be looking for something a little different.
Q: Can’t you tell us anything else about the book?
A: I’d rather not say too much more. Unlike this fake interview, Fifteen Shots is serious fiction. Those who have read it so far all seem to have a different take on many of the characters. You can have your own informed opinion, for just $2.99.
Q: Nice plug on the price.
A: Thank you. Buy the book.
